tadpole Documentation
tadpole is a sound change engine, a specialized text transformation tool. It is primarily designed for conlangers to simulate language evolution and implement automatic conversion between orthography and phonetic representations.
A tadpole specification is a sequence of rules which change parts of the input words, optionally also containing various definitions for simplifying rules and multiple input and output points that can be used to simulate things like branching language families or loanwords.
tadpole was designed to separate the sound change backend and the specification language from the start. While there is a default specification language which is documented here, there are other options which may be better for your use case.
