tadpole Basics
The tadpole specification language (not to be confused with the Language of Tadpoles) is the official method of defining tadpole sound changers. It is distinguished from other sound changer languages by requiring the user to be very explicit about how the sound changer should behave.
If you prefer a less strict language, tadpole was designed from the start to support alternative specification languages and other projects are available, though they may not support all features of the engine:
- tadpole_lexc is a frontend implementing Lexicanter sound change syntax with a tadpole backend. It is currently integrated as an option in Lexicanter.
- Tadirge is a frontend aiming to provide a more opinionated, less explicit syntax and cross-compilation to the default tadpole language.
